For the past 2 years I’ve sat down at the end of each year and put together a portfolio of my favourite photos I’ve taken over the past 12 months. Carefully picking out the ones I like or that mean a lot to me, and then putting together a book to print off. It’s a nice physical record of my work, and each year as the new book arrives I sit down and flick back through the old ones to see the difference, in both style and quality, evolve.
Around 30 - 40 photos make up the book but I thought I’d share 5 that have stood out to me the most as my favourite for 2024.
Happisburgh Lighthouse stands out on the pancake flat landscape of the Northfolk coast. Not only do I love the colours from this sunset picture of the lighthouse, but it brings back memories of a walk down the beach and a swim in the sea moments before.
Sheringham Beach, just a stones throw away from Happisburgh. These colourful beach huts epitomise the nostalgia of the British seaside. This was also taken on our first ever trip away in our campervan.
Llandudno Beach with its colourful seafront with the snow capped mountain range of Snowdonia. Despite the early year cold temperatures, the beach was as lively as you would expect in the summer months, if only with more woolly hats.
Pendine may appear to a slightly run down seaside town trying to survive on the doorstep of popular places like Tenby, but it’s coast line is beautiful. The heather clad cliffs are the perfect spot to sit and watch the world go by.
Ladybower Reservoir was the perfect stop on our Peak District road trip back in autumn. The banks of the reservoir are lined with forests, which looked magnificent with autumnal colours painted into the pine trees.
Feel free to comment and let me know what you think of the photos. Here’s to 2025, and hopefully lots more opportunities to get out with my camera.
